This means removing the fan from the wall, taking off the cover plate where it screws into the wall, unscrewing the mounting screw to free the blade, and finally pulling the blade away. It’s usually attached by an elastic band or wire that wraps around a metal hook at the end of the blade.

2. Wash down the whole fan: After you clean the inside of your ceiling fan, it is necessary to wash the outside as well. Use soap and water to thoroughly clean the entire surface of the ceiling fan so no dirt remains. Dry it completely with paper towels. A dry ceiling fan is easier to maintain than a wet one.

3. Check for loose wires: Now that you have cleaned the outside of your ceiling fan, check to see if any electrical wires are coming loose. Make sure they’re secure before continuing.
